Here is the summary of my classes this week.
In Beginning English, I asked my students compose sentences using the verb be as quickly as possible. I suggested they should use contractions such as he’s, she’s, it’s, and they’re as well as question forms using contractions such as what’s, what are, where’s and where’re so that they can start sentences as smoothly as possible. I also emphasized that they should quickly determine whether the subject is singular or plural before speaking.
In Business English, I provided reproduction training again, which proved effective in developing fluent speech. I taught my students some useful expressions to keep conversations going. If they are not confident in speaking English, they can be good listeners instead. I taught how to ask questions politely, show that they understand what the other person is saying, and show their appreciation for the information the other person has shared with them.
There was no Technical Writing lesson this week.
In Engineering English, I taught my students some basic expressions related to the properties of materials. We also read a text about safety procedures. I would like to discuss materials engineering in more detail later.
