Decimals

A decimal has a decimal point.

Here is an example:

72.345 (seventy-two point three four five)

The 7 is in the tens place.
The 2 is in the ones place.
The 3 is in the tenths place (the first decimal place).
The 4 is in the hundredths place (the second decimal place).
The 5 is in the thousandths place (the third decimal place).

In other words, this number has 7 tens, 2 ones, 3 tenths, 4 hundredths, and 5 thousandths.

小数しょうすうには小数点しょうすうてんがあります。

ここに例れいがあります。

72.345ななじゅうに てん さんよんご

７ななは十じゅうの位くらい、
2には一いちの位くらい、
3さんは10分じゅうぶんの1いちの位くらい（小数第一位しょうすうだいいちい）、
4よんは100分ひゃくぶんの1いちの位くらい（小数第二位しょうすうだいにい）、
5ごは1000分せんぶんの1いちの位くらい（小数第三位しょうすうだいさんい）にあります。

別べつの言いい方かたをすると、この数字すうじには、10じゅうが7個ななこ、1いちが2個にこ、10分じゅうぶんの1いちが3個さんこ、100分ひゃくぶんの1いちが4個よんこ、1000分せんぶんの1いちが5個ごこあります。
