Prepositions

A preposition is a word that is placed before a noun or a pronoun, such as in, at, to, and with. It shows place, time, direction, or method.

Example:

The dog is under the table.

In the sentence above, “under” is a preposition, and “under the table” is a prepositional phrase.

前置詞ぜんちしは、in、at、to、withのように、名詞めいしや代名詞だいめいしの前まえに置おかれる言葉ことばです。場所ばしょ、時間じかん、方向ほうこう、方法ほうほうなどを示しめします。

例れい：

The dog is under the table.（犬いぬはテーブルの下したにいます。）

上うえの文ぶんでは、underは前置詞で、under the tableは前置詞句ぜんちしくです。
